Okay so i just woke up.
Yesterday was great, but not epic.
So yeah.. I won free passes to DJ Kentaro's set at Zirca.
They posted the contest on Friday 2am,
I saw and replied to the contest (out of jest) on 7am,
I was informed that i am a winner on 5.14pm.
Only then, they told me i could bring a friend,
And i have to enter before 12am.
Everything within the same day.
God, where do i find a friend out of such randomness and impromptu?
I decided not to give this a miss though,
How often in your life can you watch a DMC 2002 champion spin live?
Plus he pioneered and went to a new style of mixing nobody has ever done before.
So, like a joker, i entered like around 11.50?
Alone, wtf lol.
And what a surprise!
My favourite local DJ, Inquisitive is opening for the show.
And its great to be able to catch him mixing live.
Caught a few familiar beats from his Thriller mixtape.
But it was dead boring though, cos i have no friends, boohoo.
Kentaro came on at around 1.
Opened with a really, really sick scratch routine.
Hail and repsect like totally.
He beat juggles like eating rice.
Appreciated but did not really dig the rest of his show,
Cos he drops mainly hiphop, which i have still yet to understand.
BUT.
I REALLY LOVED how he infused ROCK into his set.
Banging my head off to the rather legendary tune from 'Seven Nation Army'
And he fucking awesomely closed the set with BURN!
Holy cow, deep purple!
It was awesome with the bass beats dropped in.
So it was 3 and i was about 21 hours awake without sleep,
And had a long day at FOC prior.
Hopped onto NR5 for an hour plus ride home.
Dropped right dead onto my bed straight, satisfied.
(Reckoned the 2 free drinks which accompanied my free pass helped alot too)
So yeah,
Solitude + 10
Exposure to music +10
Energy - 20
And i'm not going to bother to jio or organise any shit anymore, ever.
There's too much shit to be accompanied by all that.
