des and me were lucky to have reached early,
the crowd was there but not too fierce,
sufficient space to walk at a normal strollling pace.
but towards 2-3 pm, people mountain people sea!
squeeze here squeeze there can barely secure a opportunity to escape.
esp lvl 5 to 6 escalator one side spoil, ppl practically forming a long queue to go up the escalator.
BUT, today is only the first day and a thursday.
cannot imagine the crowd on saturday and sunday. o.o
basically the main booths are at level 3, level 4 and level 6.
level 3 is mainly the 'plasma tvs, gaming consoles and vaio' section
dominated by sony booths.
highlight: show girls, decked in tight and micro tube top with mini skirts. drooling mouths, eyeballs dropping out from socket.
everything summarised in 2 words: sex sells.
level 4 is the PC, laptop, camera & printer haven, the hall divded into many sections for the different brands, such as NEC, Lenovo, Compaq, HP, Samsung, Asus, Apple (woot!), Acer, Dell, Canon etc.
highlight: rows and rows of sales promoters standing in a line the moment u step out of the escalator, thrusting tons of flyers/ pricelists in your alr full arms, all the way to the booths where every one of them try to 'poach' you to purchase from them. i forgot what brand, even set up a 'boxing arena' thingy on top of their booth, but didn't catch what was it used for.
other sightings include some bian tai shu shus chatting up/ snapping away with their cameras on the more attractive promoters, the irritating hysterically-filled voice of a promoter auctioning off special items at cheeeeap prices, 'you can go around other booths right now, right now! and ask them to quote you a price, they confirm chop plus stamp plus gurantee quote you NO less than 195, but today, over here at XXX, you are in luck man. YOU ARE IN LUCK!! we're having a special clearance, only for this limited 20 pieces, you get them for only sheer 49 dollars!! where on earth do you get a deal like this??!'
me: 'stfu man'
._.
on the top floor lvl 6, the most crowded hall, is for the retailers selling miscellaneous items, mainly external HD, memory sticks/cards, modems/routers, softwares, accessories like keyboard and mouse, graphic cards, just anything under the IT sun!
including big brands like Nvidia baiting consumers forward to their booths, sinking their teeth into high end technologies demonstrated on gigantic plasma screens which looked so surreal.
highlight: super cheap external hard drives, $109 for 300GB (passport size, portable one), or the same price for 600GB!! (but is some bulky shit, size equivalent to a mio modem?)
erm thats all what i roughly rmbed.
in summary: tons of crowd, tons of displays and demonstrations, tons of promoters, tons of tiredness.
reporter zee reporting (not) live from suntec city.
sorry no pics but will take some when i go there again to make a purchase.
